The Unicorn

Our family just returned from an unforgettable week at The Unicorn, and I can honestly say this is the nicest vacation home we've ever rented. My husband and I have six children, their spouses, and twenty grandchildren ranging in age from 2 months to 18 years old. Finding a vacation home that truly accommodates a family our size has become increasingly difficult. This year, 11 adults and 15 children were able to make the trip, and The Unicorn exceeded every expectation. We even had extra beds left over! Before I say anything about the home itself, I must recognize Bravo Vacation Rentals. We have rented vacation homes all over the country for many years, and I can honestly say the level of customer service Bravo provides is second to none. Every person we interacted with was genuinely kind, friendly, responsive, and eager to help. It never felt like we were "just another reservation." They truly cared that our family had a wonderful vacation, and it showed in everything they did. One person in particular deserves special recognition. Our son, daughter-in-law, and four children drove all the way from Washington State to spend the week with us. Shortly before they arrived, they began having transmission problems with their van. Lindsey didn't have to get involved, but she did. She went out of her way to find a reputable local mechanic they could trust so they would know where to take their vehicle. That simple act of kindness meant so much to our family. It wasn't part of her job description—it was simply someone choosing to care. That level of customer service is rare today, and Bravo Vacation Rentals should be incredibly proud of the people they have representing their company. A Home Designed for How Large Families Actually Vacation Many vacation homes advertise how many people they can sleep. The Unicorn goes beyond that—it was thoughtfully designed for how large families live, gather, cook, relax, and make memories together. This home isn't just about having enough bedrooms. It provides spaces where families naturally gather, laugh together, play together, and simply enjoy being with one another. Every floor has its own purpose while still feeling connected, giving everyone room to spread out without ever feeling separated. The Kitchen The kitchen was one of my favorite places in the house—but not just because it was beautiful. For years, my husband has done most of the cooking on our family vacations. This trip was different, and it became one of my favorite memories. I had the joy of watching my sons and daughters-in-law work side by side in the kitchen, preparing meals together while my husband only had to cook one meal the entire week. Because the kitchen was so spacious and well designed, several people could cook at the same time without getting in each other's way. The oversized refrigerator, double ovens, enormous island, generous counter space, and thoughtful layout made preparing meals for our large family easy instead of stressful. While they cooked, I was able to do something I don't often get to do on vacation—I relaxed. I spent time playing with my grandchildren, talking with family, and simply enjoying the moment while watching my children serve one another with such love. As a parent, there's something incredibly special about seeing your children grow into adults who naturally step in, work together, and care for their family. That may have been one of my favorite memories of the entire week. There was plenty of seating between the large dining table, the island, and several outdoor dining areas, so everyone always had somewhere comfortable to gather for meals. I'm also a huge coffee drinker, and one of my favorite little details was the adorable unicorn coffee mugs. They were the perfect size! It's thoughtful touches like that that make a vacation rental feel warm and welcoming instead of simply functional. The Great Room The great room quickly became the heart of our vacation. The soaring ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, beautiful stone fireplace, and incredibly comfortable furniture created the perfect gathering place. Unlike many large vacation rentals, there was actually enough seating for everyone to relax together comfortably. Although it was too warm during our July stay to enjoy the fireplace, I would love to come back during the winter because I can only imagine how cozy this room would be with a fire going. The Bedrooms The bedroom layout was one of the things we appreciated most. The two king suites on the main floor were perfect for my 76-year-old mother and for my husband and me, allowing us to avoid climbing stairs. Each suite had a spacious bathroom with oversized showers, amazing water pressure, double vanities, generous counter space, and plenty of drawers for unpacking. Even though our bedrooms were located on opposite sides of the great room, once we went to bed, we were amazed at how quiet everything was. We never heard activity from the rest of the house. The second floor was laid out beautifully. It features two spacious king suites, each with its own private bathroom, located on opposite ends of the floor. Connecting them is a long hallway that overlooks the stunning great room below, creating an open, airy feel throughout the home. Off that hallway is the queen bunk room, and it was one of the biggest surprises in the house. The room is much larger than it appears in the photos listed. The queen beds are generously sized, each bunk has its own built-in reading light, and the room has its own private bathroom, making it ideal for families with children. Even after everyone settled in, we still had extra sleeping space available. One feature we appreciated throughout the home was the bathrooms. Every bedroom and bunk room with an attached bathroom offered generous counter space and plenty of drawers for everyone to unpack and stay organized. It may seem like a small detail, but when you're traveling with a large family, it makes a tremendous difference. The separate pool house was another favorite. It wasn't simply extra sleeping space, it became another gathering place with a comfortable living area, kitchenette, half bath, and a bunk room that sleeps six with its own full bathroom. Out back, the private deck features a hot tub, making it another wonderful place to relax after a day of swimming and activities. The Third Floor The third-floor game room was a huge hit with both the kids and adults. There was truly something for everyone—Golden Tee Golf, skee-ball, foosball, air hockey, card tables for games and puzzles, and a comfortable TV area where the cousins gathered every evening to unwind before bed. The adults spent hours competing on Golden Tee while the kids challenged each other to game after game. There always seemed to be laughter coming from this floor. This level also includes two beautiful king suites, each with its own private bathroom, making it the perfect combination of entertainment and comfort. Outdoor Living The outdoor spaces are every bit as impressive as the inside. The pool is enormous. Even with our large family, it never once felt crowded. Three of our grandchildren learned to swim during this vacation, and because of that, this pool will always hold a special place in our hearts. The little ones spent countless hours on the playground while the older kids and adults kept the pickleball court busy with friendly competitions every day. The uncles challenged the nephews to basketball games daily, creating lots of laughs—and plenty of bragging rights. The pond gave the dads an opportunity to take the children fishing, creating memories none of us will ever forget. The ping pong table on the back deck became another favorite gathering spot, with family members jumping into games throughout the week. Although it was too hot for a fire, we spent many evenings sitting on the comfortable swings surrounding the fire pit simply talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Those quiet conversations became some of our favorite memories of the trip. One of my favorite places was the covered patio on the main level. The beautiful stone fireplace made it feel like another outdoor living room. There was plenty of comfortable seating, and I found myself there often. Early each morning I'd enjoy my coffee while listening to the birds wake up. Late at night, after all the grandchildren were asleep, it became the perfect place to relax and listen to the sounds of nature. One evening, we even had a local raccoon stop by for a visit, which made us all smile and reminded us how peaceful the setting truly is. The upper decks were another favorite gathering place, offering beautiful views and plenty of seating for morning coffee or evening conversations. It's the Little Things Sometimes it's the thoughtful details that leave the biggest impression. There were large washers and dryers on every floor of the main house, making laundry incredibly convenient. Soft throw blankets were placed throughout the home. The furniture was exceptionally comfortable. The air conditioning deserves special recognition. My husband always notices things like that, and even with more than two dozen people staying in the house during the July heat, the entire home stayed cool and comfortable all week long. Throughout our stay, we kept noticing little details that made life easier. It was obvious this home wasn't simply built to accommodate large groups—it was intentionally designed to make them comfortable. The Greatest Compliment We Can Give The greatest compliment I can give The Unicorn is this: There wasn't a single thing we wished this house had. After five wonderful days, we honestly couldn't think of anything that would have made our stay better. For five days, four generations of our family laughed together, cooked together, played together, swam together, fished together, competed together, relaxed together, and simply enjoyed being together. Our grandchildren may not remember every birthday gift they receive this year, but they'll remember learning to swim in this pool, catching fish with their dads, staying up late with their cousins, laughing over games on the third floor, competing with their uncles on the basketball and pickleball courts, and gathering around the kitchen table every evening. Those are the memories that matter. To everyone who designed, built, manages, and cares for The Unicorn, thank you. It is obvious that this wasn't created to be just another vacation rental. It was created to bring families together. And to Bravo Vacation Rentals—thank you for reminding us of what exceptional customer service looks like. Beautiful vacation homes can be found in many places, but exceptional customer service is much harder to find. Bravo Vacation Rentals gave us both. We left with far more than great pictures—we left with memories that our family will cherish for a lifetime. We're already talking about when we can come back, and we couldn't recommend The Unicorn more highly to anyone looking for the perfect place to gather the people they love most.

My family of 33 (young and old) celebrated Juneteenth at The Unicorn and it was best vacation yet. The amenities were top tier and every inch of the home was extremely clean. Even when the ice maker stopped working, the Bravo team hand delivered bags of ice to ensure we were well taken care of. We had a wonderful time on our annual vacation and will certainly book with Bravo Vacations again....actually we already have! :)

A group of friends rented this "cabin" this past weekend. The cabin is huge, all six ensuite master bedrooms comfortable and private, and the home boats terrific social spaces for spending time together and hanging out. The pool is gorgeous as well is the pool house. We hiked in the nearby beautiful state park and had a terrific time at the Unicorn. 10 out of 10.

Enjoyed a 4 day trip with 5 of my girlfriends from all over the US. One was from Dallas Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, and Houston Texas! We spent so much time enjoying the amenities!!! Lots of pool and jacuzzi time, played games in the game room, had a fire and watched the Kentucky Derby on the back porch!!! Each one of us had a master suite with our own bathroom! The king size beds were so comfortable and the pillows were my favorite!!!!! They thought of everything here!!! We spent so much time just visiting and enjoying this land and wonderful property! I can’t wait to come back and bring our spouses next time. This is the perfect place for a true getaway and a feeling of true luxury!!!!! Unicorn Cabin does not disappoint!!!!!

This sounds like such an amazing trip! We love that you and your girlfriends got to enjoy everything—from pool and jacuzzi time to game nights and watching the Kentucky Derby on the back porch… what a perfect getaway! So glad everyone loved having their own space and those comfy king beds (the pillows are a favorite of ours too!). It means a lot to hear the Unicorn Cabin delivered that true luxury experience. Our family of 13 had a fantastic stay, not only was it a quick and easy check in, the home was clean, very spacious, had so much to keep us entertained from the pool to the games in the game room. To cooking in a great kitchen with everything we needed to relaxing by the bonfire or in the hot tub before going to a cozy comfy bed. Kim and her team were great, we had a small problem with water pressure, they answered our call and had someone there immediately and had it fixed quick. The price was great for our family and I recommend the Unicorn and give them a 5+ rating. Thank you for a great stay.

Loved the Unicorn! The amenities of pool, hottub, pickleball court, basketball hoop plus a room full of games to play was out of this world. We had a very large group of families and everyone had a blast hanging out doing different activities throughout the stay. The cabin is clean and well thought out in terms of what makes a comfortable stay. The host was very responsive when we had a question or two. Wifi worked and was fast and the location was perfect at the end of a road so not many other cabins around. Highly recommend this place for large groups. Thanks we had a wonderful friendsgiving at your place for the holidays.

No words can describe how beautiful. All of the games and activities were awesome for entertaining the younger generations. We came for our family thanksgiving. The adults all had their own king size suite and private bathrooms. We will be back in the future. Need to try the pool with warmer weather. The staff was immediately available for all of our questions and needs.
